Best FPV Antenna Tubes

The point of an antenna tube is to stop the coax on a receiver antenna from being cut, crushed or vibrated to death, and the fit is the whole story. Inner diameter has to clear the coax without pinching it, because a tube that squeezes the dielectric changes impedance and quietly costs you range, and one that is too loose lets the wire saw back and forth inside during flight. Tubes sold for the common 2.4 GHz receivers with IPEX4 connectors are sized for that thin coax, so match the tube to the receiver rather than to the airframe. Length is the detail people get wrong. The tube should support the coax up to where the active element begins and stop there, leaving the radiating tip clear, because burying the element inside a tube taped against a carbon frame is a good way to shield your own antenna and lose link at distance. Cut long tubes down rather than accepting the shipped length. Material changes handling more than performance: rigid plastic tubes hold the antenna in a fixed position, which is what you want for repeatable orientation on a racing build, while silicone protector caps and softer tubes flex on a crash instead of snapping the wire at the base. Caps at the open end are not decorative, since an uncapped tube fills with dirt and the tip frays. Buy in multiples of five or ten, since these are consumables you replace after crashes.
