Independent buying guides for FPV drones

Simulator

Software that recreates FPV flight physics so pilots can practice stick control with a real controller before flying an actual drone.

An FPV simulator connects to a real radio controller and renders a virtual drone that responds to stick input much like an actual quad would. This lets new pilots build muscle memory for throttle, yaw, pitch, and roll without risking a real drone or its surroundings while they are still learning.

Most simulators let pilots choose between different flight physics presets, practice specific skills like tight turns or gate racing, and reset instantly after a crash, which makes it possible to repeat a maneuver dozens of times in the time it would take to change a single real propeller.

Time in a simulator does not replace all the feel of flying a real drone in real wind and real light, but it dramatically shortens how long it takes a beginner to get comfortable with basic control before their first outdoor flight. Many experienced pilots also keep using a simulator to warm up or practice specific tricks between real sessions.
