LiPo battery
A lightweight rechargeable battery type used in FPV drones because it can deliver very high current for its size and weight.
LiPo, short for lithium polymer, is the battery chemistry almost every FPV drone uses. Compared to older battery types, LiPo packs are light for the amount of power they store and can discharge current quickly enough to spin small motors at very high speeds. That combination of low weight and high output is what makes fast, punchy flight possible on a quad that weighs only a few hundred grams.
A pack is built from individual cells wired together, and its capacity is listed in milliamp hours, which roughly indicates how long it can power the drone before needing a recharge. Packs also carry a voltage rating tied to how many cells are wired in series, and a C rating that describes how much current the manufacturer says the pack can safely deliver.
LiPo packs are less forgiving than the batteries in most consumer electronics. They can be damaged by deep discharge, physical punctures, or charging with the wrong settings, and a damaged pack can swell or catch fire. New pilots should always charge on a fireproof surface, never leave packs charging unattended, and store them at the recommended storage voltage rather than fully charged when not flying for a few days.
