LiPo safe bag
A fire-resistant fabric bag used to contain heat and flame if a LiPo battery fails while charging, storing, or being transported.
A LiPo safe bag is a pouch made from fire-resistant material, usually a silica or fiberglass weave, designed to contain a battery fire rather than prevent one. It will not stop a pack from failing, but it can keep a failure from spreading to whatever is around it, whether that is a charging station, a car seat, or a backpack.
These bags are most useful during the two moments when LiPo packs are at greatest risk: charging, when a fault or wrong setting can cause overheating, and transport, where packs can be jostled or punctured. Many pilots charge packs inside the bag on a hard, non-flammable surface, and carry flying packs in a bag rather than loose in a bag pocket.
A safe bag is a precaution, not a substitute for basic good habits like inspecting packs for puffing or damage, using the correct charge settings, and never charging unattended. Treat it as one layer in handling LiPo batteries responsibly rather than a guarantee that nothing can go wrong.
